With the weather warming up, now is the perfect time to get out in the sunshine.

As we leave winter behind and spring into action this spring time we encourage you to embark on a journey through community-driven efforts, environmental stewardship, and groundbreaking initiatives that paint a vivid picture of our beloved Noosa biosphere and contribute towards nurturing our biosphere reserve. We have shared some wonderful ways you can get involved in the community so read on and check them out.

“The Edible Landscape,” there’s something for everyone.

Welcome to the August edition of our newsletter! In this issue, we have exciting topics that celebrate sustainability, foster a deeper connection with nature, and empower our environment. From Noosa Lakes receiving a prestigious national award for its remarkable step towards sustainability to a captivating workshop on embracing the flavours of nature with “The Edible Landscape,” there’s something for everyone.

Beat Plastic Pollution this WED!

May has seen the onset of the cooler weather (a welcome change for some of us!). The bright, clear sunny days have been a pure delight! There’s some big events coming up next month: World Environment Day, World Oceans Day and Zero Emissions Noosa’s EV Expo.

Noosa Biosphere Trails open

We had a great month with a few special occasions, including celebrating Earth Day on April 22nd. We have been hard at work on several projects, and we’re eager to share updates on our latest projects this month. We’ll also provide a sneak peek at what to expect during the month of May. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our mission of preserving the Noosa Biosphere Reserve. Many hands make light work and together we can create a huge positive impact for our biosphere.

JANUARY 2023

Koalas on the Move survey and Surf Safe Noosa launch

Did you see our Koalas on the Move. Be aware! signs on Cooroy-Noosa Rd and McKinnon Drive during August to December last year? Or our cute little koala characters and friends in the local newspapers or social media? If so, we want to hear from you! Please complete our short survey – it only takes a minute and will help our koalas!

DECEMBER 2022

That’s a wrap!

2022 has been a busy year – a few highlights include the launch of the Koalas on the Move campaign; supporting the University of the Sunshine Coast’s Work Integrated Learning Student program and PhD Top-up Scholarships; hosting our second Noosa Biosphere Awards and Gala ceremony and launch of the Grow for Noosa fund, among many others.

Gala & Awards 2022

On Tuesday 1 Nov we hosted our annual Noosa Biosphere Gala & Awards at Peppers Noosa Resort & Villas, celebrating the International Day for Biosphere Reserves (3 Nov).

Our theme this year, ‘Grow for Noosa’ highlights the need to support a sustainable food and agriculture economy in the Noosa region.

Now is your last chance to Enter the Noosa Biosphere Awards as entries close tonight at midnight, Friday 30 September! It’s easy to Enter (should take no more than 30 minutes!) and we encourage anyone working to make a difference in our community to apply.

Koalas on the Move campaign launch

Have you spotted a koala lately? It’s that time of year (July to December) when our furry friends are on the move with dispersal time and breeding season in full swing. They can show up in the most unexpected places including suburban and rural backyards, as well as, face many dangers like crossing busy roads so we’re urging drivers to take care when travelling.

The Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation has had a busy month connecting with the community and being part of some great events including the EV expo, Noosa Come Together Festival and co-hosting the recent Stakeholder Symposium with a focus on establishing the region’s priorities and action plan for a Noosa & Region Agri-Hub.
