Find a Frog in February

Find a Frog in February

Join Find a Frog in February and help protect local ecosystems by recording frog sightings across Noosa and the Sunshine Coast.

Find a Frog in February (FFF) is a community citizen science program calling on locals to help monitor frog populations across Noosa, the Sunshine Coast and surrounding catchments.

Facilitated by the Mary River Catchment Coordinating Committee (MRCCC), this annual initiative invites everyday nature lovers to record frog sightings throughout February. Frogs are vital indicators of environmental health, yet they are under increasing pressure from habitat loss, pollution and disease. Knowing where frogs are living helps inform conservation efforts and protect the ecosystems we all depend on.

Getting involved is easy and no prior experience is needed. Participants simply spend time outdoors, record what they see or hear, and submit observations online. Sightings can include photos, call recordings or simple location details, with identification support available through MRCCC and partner platforms.

All records contribute to the Queensland Government’s WildNet database, providing valuable information for researchers, environmental planners and land managers working to improve outcomes for frogs and their habitats across the region.

Whether you live in the Mary, Mooloola, Maroochy, Noosa, Burrum Rivers or coastal areas, Find a Frog in February is a fun and meaningful way to connect with nature and support the long-term health of our natural environment!
