Presented by Permaculture Australia, Return to the Village combines the Australasian Permaculture Convergence with the Permaculture Festival Weekend, creating a week of learning, connection, celebration and community life on Jinibara Country.
Marking 50 years of permaculture, the gathering will bring together permaculture practitioners, growers, educators, artists, environmentalists, changemakers, families, Elders and young people to share knowledge, explore new ideas and help shape the next 50 years of the movement.
At the heart of the event is a commitment to intergenerational and cross-cultural knowledge exchange. Through talks, workshops, forums, demonstrations and shared experiences, participants will explore practical and positive responses to environmental and social challenges while strengthening communities and connections with the natural world.
The Australasian Permaculture Convergence, running from 20–26 April, will bring together permaculture thinkers, practitioners, educators and changemakers for conversations, practical learning and collaboration. The Permaculture Festival Weekend, from 23–25 April, opens the celebration more broadly with inspiring talks, hands-on workshops, live music, arts, food, family activities and entertainment.
Organisations and individuals involved in protecting and restoring land, waterways, forests, wildlife and marine environments are also invited to contribute their knowledge and perspectives as part of the event’s many “Voices of the Village.” Opportunities are available to participate through talks, workshops, forums, demonstrations and volunteering, as well as organisational partnerships.
Whether you come for the Convergence, Festival Weekend or the entire gathering, Return to the Village is an opportunity to connect, learn, celebrate and contribute to conversations about creating a more regenerative future.
