Noosa Biosphere Reserve - A celebration of community and environment.

Virtual Songlines

Project Overview

Noosa Songlines with Brian Warner.

Noosa Virtual Songlines shares the stories and knowledge of traditional Kabi Kabi custodians through a suite of high resolution 360 degrees animated scenes which contextualise the cultural narrative that reflect the connection, heritage and spirituality of the original landscape of Noosa Heads.

Four virtual heritage experiences were installed along the Noosa boardwalk as part of the Floating Land 2021 exhibition.

Each yarn depicts caring for country themes that the local custodians feel are appropriate to share, showcasing their continuous connection to the Noosa region. These stories represent the spirit of fire, spirit of wind, spirit of the land and spirit of the animals. Virtual Songlines was developed by award-winning software design company, Bilbie Studios.

Intended outcomes

The artwork was installed as part of Noosa Regional Gallery’s Floating Land: at the edge of ideas, exhibition 2021 and is a pilot for permanent installation of these works in culturally appropriate sites within the Noosa Biosphere Reserve.
