Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation opens Director of the board positions

The Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation (NBRF) is seeking expressions of interest to join its board of directors.

Chair of the board, Dick Barnes says NBRF is seeking to fill three voluntary director positions to support its objectives under the Man and the Biosphere Program.

“This is an exciting opportunity for three experienced individuals to be part of a special team that manages a charitable trust and facilitates science-based projects that have long-term benefits to Noosa,” he said.

“Our directors are passionate about the future sustainability of Noosa and our community.”

The Noosa Shire achieved global recognition from UNESCO for the high values of its natural environment in 2007.

The not-for-profit organisation was established by Noosa Council and pursues projects and activities aligned with the strategic objectives of the Noosa Biosphere Reserve.

“A key part of the NBRF charter is to fund projects that deliver environmental and socio-economic outcomes,” said Mr Barnes.

“Some of the exciting projects we currently support include mapping koala health and population distribution, restoring the healthy habitats of our waterways and innovative management of our hinterland and catchments.

Directors of the board are required to have experience in not-for-profit organisations and governance.

“The roles of the directors will be both challenging and rewarding so we are particularly looking for experienced individuals with skills in governance, philanthropic fundraising and communications.”

“This is an exciting new chapter for NBRF as it begins to set its strategic direction for the next three to ten years.”

Interested applicants are invited express their interest by the closing date of 24 August.
